The Montreal Canadiens seem to be reaching a turning point in their rebuilding process despite three consecutive seasons without qualifying for the playoffs.

Several players are showing a willingness to take on greater responsibilities, and talented prospects like Lane Hutson, Logan Mailloux, and Joshua Roy are expected to play crucial roles in 2024-2025.
However, Martin St-Louis's team lacks offensive firepower, prompting Kent Hughes to want to be active in the trade market to acquire a top-tier forward.
In a recent discussion with Pierre LeBrun at the NHL Combine, Hughes stated that he and Jeff Gorton are exploring all possibilities to improve the team.
"We know it's important to take a step forward. I think the magnitude of this step will depend to some extent on what we do or don't do this summer. We'll try. We'll explore all possibilities to improve our team." - Kent Hughes

It remains to be seen if an opportunity will arise in the coming weeks, but it seems that Montreal's management is willing to do whatever it takes to strengthen the team for the playoffs.
