Arpon Basu proposes a trade between the Canadiens and the Blue Jackets

The Blue Jackets may consider drafting a forward instead of a defenseman, which could prompt Montreal to trade for this pick.

The suggested trade proposal would be: Montreal would give up its 5th overall pick and the 26th overall pick to Columbus in exchange for the 4th overall pick.

If Ivan Demidov is available with the 4th pick, the trade could be appealing for Montreal; otherwise, keeping the 5th pick might be preferable.

Discussions are intensifying ahead of the draft, with all general managers gathered in Buffalo for the Combine currently.
