In his recent column on BPM Sports, journalist Arpon Basu raised the possibility of a trade involving young forward Kent Johnson for the Montreal Canadiens.

While Kent Hughes, the Canadiens' GM, seeks to add a top-tier forward, Basu believes Johnson could be a more affordable option than Trevor Zegras or Martin Necas.
Johnson, 21 years old and selected 5th overall in 2021, hasn't fully established himself with the Columbus Blue Jackets.
With only 16 points in 42 games this season, he could be available for trade.
The Blue Jackets' new GM, Don Waddell, who wasn't involved in Johnson's selection, might be less attached to him.
