Jake Allen Reveals What Really Went Down During His Rumoured Trade to the Avalanche

Last week, a significant rumor sparked a lot of reactions on social media, as former NHL player Matt Murley seemed to confirm that veteran Jake Allen had been traded to the Colorado Avalanche.

It's worth noting that Matt Murley's tweet was instantly shared by several big names, including the most popular podcast in the world of hockey, Spittin' Chiclets. Given how quickly this announcement took off, it seemed very serious, but ultimately no transaction materialized between the two teams.
However, even if this famous "trade" was completely false, it still had huge repercussions on the Montreal Canadiens' goaltender. Indeed, during his press briefing Sunday morning, the CH's number 34 revealed to journalists that he had been overwhelmed with calls and text messages following Matt Murley's post.
"I have no control over that. These are rumors, and most people who speculate do it for the sake of speculating. Someone told me the other day that I was traded to Colorado, and my phone almost exploded from the number of messages" -Jake Allen
Given that it's part of the business, the 33-year-old goaltender is rather accustomed to this type of speculation. However, he admitted that this rumor particularly affected his parents, who had no idea if their son had indeed been traded.
"It's something that bothers my parents more. I know it's part of the game. It started in November or October, and it's going to get even more intense as the trade deadline (March 8) approaches." - Jake Allen
While we tend to forget this component, it's clear that this situation must be very difficult for his family and him.
