In the last few minutes, the Montreal Canadiens made a rather unexpected announcement regarding the young 24-year-old goaltender, Cayden Primeau. Indeed, the organization confirmed that number 30 has won the Molson Cup for the month of March, an award given to the team's best player of the preceding month.

This comes as somewhat of a surprise, given that the goalie only played in five of the Tricolore's 13 games. Despite his excellent performances, other team players had a very productive month, namely Nick Suzuki and Juraj Slafkovsky.
Indeed, the Bleu-Blanc-Rouge center continued on his streak, notably reaching the 30-goal mark for the first time in his career. Moreover, he accumulated a total of six goals and four assists (10 points) in 13 games, bringing his season total to 69 points.
As for Juraj Slafkovsky, the overall first pick in 2022 made history by becoming the first player under 20 to break the 40-point mark in the same year. He also had an impressive run of nine consecutive games with at least one point, finishing March with two goals and eight assists in 13 games.
However, regarding Cayden Primeau, even though he only started five games, it must be admitted that he was simply sensational in goal for the Montreal Canadiens. The American goalie compiled a record of three wins, one loss, and one overtime defeat, notably achieving two shutouts. He also posted very interesting stats, ending the month with a 1.97 goals-against average and a .939 save percentage.
Certainly, it's truly encouraging to see Cayden Primeau elevate his game since Jake Allen's departure, and it's very promising for the 2024-2025 campaign. While most observers previously predicted that Samuel Montembeault would be the number one goalie next year, it wouldn't be surprising if a fierce competition is fought during training camp for this position.
