Now that the 2023-2024 season is officially over, the General Manager of the Montreal Canadiens, Kent Hughes, met with journalists at the Bell Centre to review the current campaign.

Moreover, he made an extremely interesting announcement, refuting some rumors that had circulated recently regarding the future of Martin St-Louis. Indeed, the GM of the Tricolore confirmed that the organization has exercised the option in the head coach's contract to ensure his services for the next three seasons.
"The Canadiens have chosen to exercise the option to extend Martin St-Louis's contract for two additional years. The head coach will return for the next three seasons." - Montreal Canadiens

Wow! What wonderful news!
The Quebecer is doing a remarkable job since his arrival in Montreal and he fully deserves this great promotion. Unlike some coaches who use an old dictator mentality, Martin St-Louis is an integral part of the team's core, thus helping to create a unified culture and team spirit.
This is a new strategy that seems to work well with the organization's young players, who rally behind their head coach. Martin St-Louis has been a key figure in the development of several players such as Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, Juraj Slafkovsky, and Alek Newhook, taking the time to talk with them to help them perform better.
Certainly, we are very happy to see that the management has given him such a vote of confidence. We are convinced that Martin St-Louis is the right man for the job and that he can really help the Montreal Canadiens move forward in the rebuilding process to eventually bring the team to the playoffs.
Although some fans doubted his ability to help the Tricolore become a contending team, it seems to be completely the opposite for Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton (and us too). This means the head coach will remain with the Bleu-Blanc-Rouge until the end of the 2026-2027 season.
For those who wish to listen to the CH's press conference, it's right here:
