As it's the day for reflections at the Montreal Canadiens, a sad announcement has just emerged from the organization, as we learn that a player confirms his retirement from hockey.

Indeed, defenseman Chris Wideman, who has not been able to lace up his skates this season due to a significant back injury, is ending his professional career after three years with the Tricolore.
The 34-year-old veteran has faced serious health troubles this year, and retirement was inevitable at the end of this campaign.
"All the difficulties, the pain, the sleepless nights, the doubts, the demons... It's been quite a battle. But it was worth it."

In the interview, Wideman revealed his injury was so debilitating that he was sometimes unable to pick up his young son.
It's a truly sad conclusion for a player who was highly appreciated within the CH locker room. He was a deeply valued member of the team.
He concluded his Montreal stint with a tally of 33 points in 110 games.
We wish him the best for the future, but especially, a return to the health that has troubled him for over a year.
