Arber Xhekaj confirms major rumour on live radio today

Following his many fights in his first year in the NHL, a rumor about number 72 circulated last summer. Indeed, many observers were convinced that the young CH defenseman had sought the advice of former tough guys to improve his technique.

This was confirmed by the former Bleu-Blanc-Rouge forward, Georges Laraque, after the season opener. Indeed, during an appearance on Tony Marinaro's podcast, he admitted he had given some advice to the Sheriff to help him become formidable in such situations.

However, during an appearance on «L'Antichambre» after the game against the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday night, Arber Xhekaj surprised the panelists in the studio.

Wifi admitted he had also received help from two former Canadiens, namely P.J. Stock and Chris Nilan. He mentioned he was very grateful that players who had played for the organization had reached out to try to help him become a better fighter.

Honestly, we are very happy to see that Xhekaj is willing to accept the advice given to him to improve his game. Moreover, now that he has mastered this aspect of the «game,» he can now focus on his defensive play. Since being called up to the big club, he has shown significant improvement and is currently used alongside David Savard on the second defensive pairing.

It's incredible to think that the young defenseman, who was never drafted in the OHL or the NHL, is now a key element in the Montreal formation. He is far from reaching his full potential, and it's definitely very promising for the years to come.

For sure, we really hope he can continue to progress and eventually transform into a top defenseman in the league.
