Since last Saturday's game in Pittsburgh, the Montreal Canadiens have begun a week-long break from activities due to the All-Star Weekend.

The situation of Arber Xhekaj, who didn't play in the last match against the Penguins, was pending, with many observers believing that a return to Laval to play the week's games with the Rocket was a very real possibility.
"So Arber Xhekaj [was] scratched from the Canadiens' lineup in Pittsburgh. It wouldn't be surprising to see him return to Laval for the team's three home games next week while the big club is on break. Why not?" - Anthony Marcotte, BPM Sports

The Verdict Just Came in and the Canadiens' Announcement Regarding Xhekaj

Well, the CH organization has made a significant decision regarding its young defenseman, opting to keep him in Montreal so he can rest with the rest of the team, instead of playing three big home games at Place Bell in the coming days.
Here's what journalist Eric Engels had to say on the matter:
"It's a week to recharge, get some well-deserved physical and mental rest, and put things into perspective, and no one on the Montreal Canadiens could benefit from it more than Arber Xhekaj."

This decision by the management team is a pretty telling sign that, barring a major reversal, the Sheriff should remain with the main club until the end of the season.
It seems to confirm that his time in the AHL is now over.
