As you probably already know, five members of Team Canada Junior have announced their departure from their respective teams, citing "personal reasons."

In fact, the players in question were summoned to report to the London, Ontario police to face very serious charges, as first reported by the Globe and Mail.
Of the group, Alex Formenton was the first to step forward to the police with his lawyers to face the accusations.
In connection with this major case, journalist Rick Westhead, who is doing colossal work in this matter, as in the scandal involving Kyle Beach and the Chicago Blackhawks, has just revealed that several lawyers expect players to be charged with group ****** ****** and confinement.
If this is the case, as the journalist points out, a huge sentence could be announced, as this charge carries a penalty of up to 14 years in prison.
« Several lawyers specializing in such cases have told me in recent days that they expect former players from the 2018 World Championship to be prosecuted for a very serious charge.

Alex Formenton's lawyer, Daniel Brown, told me today that the former Senators player has not been charged with any of these offenses.

He refused to specify what Formenton has been accused of.

If Formenton is charged with the above-mentioned offense, he faces a maximum of 10 years in prison if found guilty. With a slightly higher degree of accusation (which could be confirmed), we're talking about a maximum sentence of 14 years.

(Toronto lawyer Alison Craig told me it's not uncommon for charges to be enhanced after being brought). »

- Rick Westhead

This is a major development.
Obviously, all of this is likely to take a lot of time before this big case reaches a conclusion. Nevertheless, unless there is a big surprise, their careers in hockey are likely in jeopardy.
