The loss of Sean Monahan from the Montreal Canadiens lineup will be significant. He was leading the center of the second line and played a key role on the first wave of the power play.

In a press conference following the trade, Kent Hughes addressed the question of who should replace number 91 in the lineup. His answer was Alex Newhook.
However, the question of the replacement on the power play was not answered and it will certainly be a big challenge for Martin St-Louis.
In connection with this issue, several observers have identified a player who should take Monahan's place, namely Josh Anderson.
Although he was on the first unit before giving his spot to Juraj Slafkovsky, let's just say this replacement really doesn't have unanimous support.
"I just realized that with Monahan's departure, we will very likely see Anderson on the 1st PP.

Sorry. Have a good day everyone." - Alex Jodouin

Anderson had virtually no favorable impact on the power play when he was excessively used in this role at the start of the season.
Moreover, his offensive performance has become very ordinary again after an interesting momentum during December. He has only totaled seven goals and 13 points in 45 games so far.
It must be said that, unfortunately, due to injuries and the recent trade, the Canadiens really have no other options in hand to play this role than him.
