While the Edmonton Oilers are in contention for the Stanley Cup, rumors have circulated in recent months about the uncertain future of star forward Leon Draisaitl in Alberta, as he will become an unrestricted free agent next season.
However, during his appearance on the Oilers Now podcast, DailyFaceoff journalist Frank Seravalli made a significant statement about the Oilers' key duo:
"It appears the Oilers have already begun discussions with Draisaitl's camp. [...] In two years, when the Oilers hit the ice, these three players [Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, and Evan Bouchard] will account for 40 million dollars. [...] It's the only place they can play together. Where else would you go to play with Connor McDavid? He's not going anywhere." - Frank Seravalli
This season, the German forward amassed 106 points, including 41 goals, in 81 regular-season games. In the playoffs, he scored 28 points in 21 games.
According to Seravalli, McDavid's salary is expected to be around 16 million dollars per year, Draisaitl's around 14 million, and defenseman Evan Bouchard's around 10 million dollars.
