Major Turnaround Regarding a Jake Allen Trade at the Deadline

Published February 29, 2024 at 5:09 PM

With one week to go until the trade deadline, it must be said that the market is unusually quiet at the moment, with only one major transaction occurring yesterday since Sean Monahan's move at the beginning of the month.

However, this does not mean that teams are not active right now, as there is a lot of stirring behind the scenes.

Significant development in the goaltender market

After learning that the Predators finally decided to take their star goalie Juuse Saros off the trade market, the Calgary Flames have now confirmed the same for their number one goaltender, Jacob Markstrom.

Now that these two goalies are off the market for a potential trade, it directly opens the door to other options on the market, including Jake Allen.

In connection with the possibility of seeing the 33-year-old veteran finally change addresses by March 8th, insider Frank Seravalli has just revealed a major piece of information.

"Hoping other NHL GMs are listening to this segment! ;)

Essentially, Seravalli believes that Allen is the type of goalie who could bounce back with another club.

He also says that if a goalie (in the NHL) is traded within 1 week, it could very well be him!" - Marc-Olivier Beaudoin

So, with what he's hearing across the league, Seravalli mentions that if a goalie is to be traded in the coming days, there's a good chance it could be Allen. Wow!

In this regard, the Devils are likely to be a team to watch closely, as they have actively tried to finalize a transaction with Calgary and Nashville over the last week.

This will be a file to keep a close eye on.
