In the last few minutes, a major trade between the Canadiens and the Kings has been discussed in relation to a rumor currently circulating behind the scenes of the NHL, at least according to what was reported on BPM Sports.

To our great surprise, the name of Pierre-Luc Dubois has come up in the news with the Tricolore, as a trade has been suggested between the two organizations with a specific objective in mind.

Essentially, according to discussions between Tony Marinaro, Stéphane Gonzalez, and Georges Laraque, a "problem" trade might occur this summer, involving the acquisition of the Quebecois forward in Montreal, in return for, possibly, a player like Josh Anderson.

Laraque mentioned that if a trade were to materialize for Dubois, it would be in the form of such an exchange.

It seems that the Kings would like to part ways with him after only one season, as he does not seem to fit into the team's system at all. Given that the Canadiens also have this type of situation within their lineup, particularly with Anderson, a link has been drawn between the two teams for a potential partnership.

On this subject, Marinaro really "lost it", clearly expressing his disagreement with such a move from the CH's point of view.

For their part, Gonzalez and Laraque seem a bit more impartial about the idea of acquiring Dubois in exchange for a problem like Anderson and Gallagher.

Pierre-Luc Dubois in Montreal: a good acquisition?

The idea is nonetheless interesting. PLD is only 25 years old, and his talent didn't disappear overnight. Just last year, he scored nearly 30 goals (27) and earned 63 points in 73 games.

We all agree that this year was clearly a season to forget for the Ste-Agathe-des-Monts native, who scored only 16 goals and 40 points in 82 games. He was used for a majority of the year on one of the last two lines of the team.

However, this is still significantly better than an Anderson who scored only nine goals and 20 points in 78 games, and who is four years older than him.

Could he rebound on a second line in Montreal, alongside Kirby Dach and Alex Newhook?

The idea is intriguing, but where I see it could become a problem for the Canadiens is the fact that Dubois does not seem to have a good attitude in the locker room.

I have no doubt he could return to being a 60+ point scorer next year, but I do not believe he is the type of individual that fits with the philosophy that Martin St-Louis is trying to implement in Montreal.

Nevertheless, it must be added that, from a hockey standpoint, trading Anderson for Dubois could turn into a very profitable bet for Kent Hughes if the Kings' forward could find his bearings with the CH.
