Significant news has erupted in the last few hours regarding a trade that is reportedly being prepared by the Montreal Canadiens.

According to what has been reported by Jacob Stoller from The Hockey News, Kent Hughes is currently very active in shopping the services of young defenseman Jordan Harris.
"I'm told the Montreal Canadiens are currently shopping Jordan Harris ahead of the trade deadline.

Harris is a 23-year-old left-handed defenseman who skates well and has one more year left on his contract ($1.4M). The surplus of young defensemen in MTL has made him expendable." - Jacob Stoller

In this case, the departure of the American defenseman seems very serious, as we learn that Hughes is shopping his player to possibly get the best return possible.
That being said, it will be interesting to see Harris's value on the trade market, as he is not having a strong season this year.
However, he is still very young, signed for another season at a reasonable salary, and will remain a restricted free agent afterwards. All of this certainly increases his market value.
Considering the depth on the left side of the defense with Michael Matheson, Kaiden Guhle, Arber Xhekaj, Jayden Struble, and Lane Hutson, by the end of the season, Harris's presence has become marketable.
In the best case scenario, the Canadiens could possibly get a 2nd round pick, otherwise, I imagine the club could end up with a third-round selection, as was the case with the organization in 2018.
Several teams will be watched closely by the next March 8 for a potential trade involving Harris, including the Calgary Flames, the Dallas Stars, and the Tampa Bay Lightning.
