Right after the trade deadline, the Montreal Canadiens' General Manager, Kent Hughes, revealed some genuinely interesting information during his press conference.

He mentioned that several general managers had contacted him regarding certain players on his team [besides Jake Allen]. Although he was willing to listen to offers, he wasn't really inclined to trade the players involved in the discussions.
"We received calls for other players, but we indicated that we were not interested in trading them, for the most part. We still said we were ready to listen to offers, but the offers never came." - Kent Hughes

Interestingly, shortly after this statement, journalist François Gagnon reported that, according to his sources, David Savard was the player who attracted the most attention from the Canadiens. He also suggested that players like Arber Xhekaj, Joel Armia, and Jordan Harris were possibly involved in some discussions, but Kent Hughes wanted to keep them in Montreal.
Summary of trades completed by the Canadiens:

Montreal receives:
ˇ A first-round pick from the Winnipeg Jets (2024)
ˇ A conditional third-round pick from the New Jersey Devils (2025)
ˇ Jacob Perreault

Montreal gives away:
ˇ Sean Monahan (WIN)
ˇ Jake Allen (NJD)
ˇ Jan Mysak (ANA)

All in all, this was excellent work by Kent Hughes, who acquired two draft picks and a young Quebecois forward selected in the first round in 2020, for players who were no longer part of the organization's long-term plans.
The Canadiens' GM also made a statement that is likely to please Montreal fans. Indeed, while he admitted to being a seller at the trade deadline, he indicated that he would be a buyer at the draft presented in Nashville at the end of June.
It wouldn't be surprising if Kent Hughes tries to acquire a promising young forward at the draft, as he has done in the last two years. We are eager to see what Kent Hughes has in store, as he clearly seeks to improve his roster to accelerate the rebuilding process undertaken by the organization.
Betting that the rumors involving Anaheim Ducks' star forward Trevor Zegras might intensify at that time would not be off the mark.
Certainly, it will be a situation to watch in the coming months!
