To the great surprise of many fans, some rumors involving star forward Elias Pettersson are currently making headlines across the NHL. Indeed, according to rumors, the 25-year-old is unhappy in Vancouver, hesitant to sign a contract extension with the Canucks.

In the last year of his contract, the Swede will become a restricted free agent as of July 1st. Furthermore, according to information reported by Pierre LeBrun, General Manager Patrick Allvin has already submitted several offers to his forward. However, Elias Pettersson categorically refuses to give an answer, leaving huge doubt about his future with the team.
Wow! It's a rather strange and especially unusual situation, especially since the Vancouver Canucks are having a lot of success this season, leading the NHL with a record of 38-16-7 (83 points) in 61 games.
Some teams have reportedly contacted the management to inquire about the availability of the center player, as well as the price to pay to acquire him. Of course, many fans would like Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens to be active in this case, as adding a player of Elias Pettersson's caliber would completely energize the Montreal attack.
After all, since his arrival in the Bettman circuit, the fifth overall pick in 2017 has accumulated 398 points in 386 games. Moreover, in the last two seasons, the number 40 of the Canucks has made a rapid offensive progress, having collected 175 points, including 68 goals, in his last 141 games.
During an appearance on the podcast The Sick Podcast With Tony Marinaro, Maxim Lapierre made a frankly interesting proposal. Indeed, he wishes that Kent Hughes does everything in his power to acquire the star forward, even going so far as to make an offer sheet to Elias Pettersson.
"I really like Elias Pettersson in Vancouver and we know he's not happy there. Maybe not with the first pick this season, because it's important for the Montreal Canadiens, but whatever happens after that, can we make him an offer sheet?

I would select my choice this year and then make an offer sheet for Elias Pettersson, I would do it. I really don't understand why teams don't use this strategy more often. When will you have the opportunity to have a guy like Elias Petterson in Montreal? You will never have the chance to draft a player like him, so do it." - Maxim Lapierre

Wow! Knowing that Pettersson's salary demands are around 11 to 12 million dollars per season, the Habs would have to give up four first-round picks to acquire him. That's definitely something to think about!
Certainly, this will be a dossier to watch closely in the coming weeks, and it will be really interesting to see if Kent Hughes will want to get involved in this situation, whether through a trade or even an offer sheet.
Do you think the Bleu-Blanc-Rouge should make an offer sheet to Elias Pettersson?
