It's quite rare to see a coach being traded; in fact, it has only happened once. Rumors suggest that a head coach could be dealt.

The Pittsburgh Penguins didn't have the season they hoped for, and changes might be on the horizon. Questions arise about Sidney Crosby's future.
However, it's mainly behind the bench that changes have been discussed. General Manager Kyle Dubas reportedly demanded the head coach to shake up his assistants.
Mike Sullivan allegedly declined. Consequently, the coach finds himself on thin ice and has had the opportunity to discuss with other interested teams.
The Devils have shown interest. According to insider Kevin Weekes, a trade could occur between the two teams for the head coach.
The last and only time a coach was traded in the NHL was in 1988 when the well-known Michel Bergeron moved from the Nordiques to the Rangers.
