The NHL trade deadline is fast approaching, and trade rumors are becoming more frequent. There's no doubt that the General Manager of the Montreal Canadiens, Kent Hughes, will face several important decisions, as he has certain veterans who are attracting a lot of attention at the moment.

Indeed, according to backstage rumors, many general managers have shown interest in forward Sean Monahan and defenseman David Savard. Moreover, according to Elliotte Friedman and David Pagnotta, the Canadiens could receive a very attractive return in a potential trade involving one of these two players.
Will Kent Hughes want to trade them to obtain draft picks and/or prospects to help the team in the coming years? Will the GM of the Canadiens prefer to keep them on the team to allow young players to benefit from experienced mentors for their development?
We may have to wait until March 8 for a definitive answer in this matter, but the excellent performances of Monahan and Savard are greatly helping Kent Hughes at the moment, as he can ask for a high price from teams wanting to acquire them.
In the last few hours, insider Elliotte Friedman revealed a major scoop regarding the Montreal Canadiens and the New York Rangers. He stated, from a reliable source, that General Manager Chris Drury would very much like to get his hands on number 91 of the Bleu-Blanc-Rouge, especially since Filip Chytil will ultimately be out for the rest of the season.
According to Elliotte Friedman, there is growing interest in Sean Monahan in New York. What would be a fair return for Monahan from the Rangers?

Interesting! Remember that Elliotte Friedman is one of the most connected "insiders" in the NHL, who often has the opportunity to discuss with general managers and players' agents.
Knowing that the Rangers are at the top of the Metropolitan Division, it wouldn't be surprising if Drury is looking to make a big splash by adding a forward capable of helping his team succeed in the playoffs. Although the former Calgary Flame has only played 30 games in the famous spring dance (21 points), he would undoubtedly be a quality addition.
Since his arrival in Montreal, Sean Monahan has clearly demonstrated that he can dominate at both ends of the ice, being used as much in offensive missions as defensive ones. Moreover, he is, without a doubt, one of the best centermen in the face-off circle, a really important aspect in the playoffs.
With an impressive tally of 13 goals and 22 assists (35 points) in 49 games, Mony could reach the 60-point mark if he continues to produce at his current pace. An offensively interesting contribution for a forward earning a salary of about two million dollars, especially when you look at the wingers he has played with this season.
Do you think the Canadiens should trade Sean Monahan by the trade deadline?
