The Montreal Canadiens have the opportunity to select 5th overall for the second consecutive year in the NHL Draft's first round.

Last year, Canadiens fans were surprised and disappointed to see the organization draft a defenseman in David Reinbacher. However, the Austrian could prove to be a solid choice in the coming years.
Arpon Basu, a relevant figure, discussed the Canadiens' 5th pick, which could be surprising according to his comments in "The Athletic."
"The Canadiens are very high on left-handed defenseman Zeev Buium from the University of Denver and right-handed defenseman Zayne Parekh from the Saginaw Spirit, both of whom possess an important puck-moving element that the Canadiens lack on defense, apart from Lane Hutson, who is not yet certain to succeed as a defenseman in the NHL. I think both Buium and Parekh could be considered at 5th overall, although it's difficult to determine which of the two would be preferred, even though Parekh has the advantage of shooting right-handed!" - Arpon Basu
