There's a saying in the hockey world that the general standings at American Thanksgiving are indicative of the rest of the season.

In about 90% of cases, teams not in the playoff picture at this time of year won't make it at the end of the season either.
Considering the Montreal Canadiens, they currently rank 23rd in the NHL and 13th in their conference. However, they have played several more games than the New Jersey Devils and the Ottawa Senators.
Taking into account the team's current position, which is likely to remain similar by next April, the organization will probably have a top-10 pick in the next draft.
The upcoming draft is looking interesting, headlined by players like Macklin Celebrini and Cole Eiserman. However, unless something unexpected happens, based on the Canadiens' current ranking, they should be picking around the 10th spot.
Among the available players, there's a very talented Quebecois center, Sacha Boisvert.
At 17, he already has an impressive physique at 6 feet 2 inches and shows great offensive promise. Playing in the USHL in the United States, with plans to move to the NCAA next year, Boisvert has scored 13 goals and 21 points in as many games.
One of his former coaches at Séminaire Saint-Joseph, who oversaw his development, says he has a rare "package" for a hockey player.
"He has a good vision of the game. Add to that he's gritty. Having this rough side and talent at 6'2" is rare. For now, he hasn't reached his full physical strength. He will probably play above 200 lbs. He's in the line of the Tkachuks, maybe."

Boisvert's potential is undeniable, and he himself made a statement that excites many fans:
"My goal is not to be the best hockey player at 18. But when I'm ready and everyone is at the same physical maturity, at 26 or 27, that's when I aspire to be the best player of the 2024 draft."

- Sacha Boisvert

He also mentioned wanting to "become the best player in the draft." This speaks volumes about his motivation and desire.
Early in the season, first-round rankings are not yet indicative, but many believe that the Trois-Rivières native could be picked between the 10th and 20th spot, based on current information.
He will surely be on the radar of the Montreal Canadiens' scouts and could become a key piece in the organization's rebuild.
