In recent days, TVA Sports published an article that sparked a lot of discussion on social media. The sports channel raised the possibility of Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby finishing his career with the Montreal Canadiens.

While this possibility is very attractive to Montreal fans, it has almost no chance of materializing.
However, according to Toronto journalist Steve Dangle, Sidney Crosby has expressed interest in leaving the Penguins several times in recent years. He suggested that the veteran might have a preference for joining a team like the Montreal Canadiens or the Colorado Avalanche.
"Of all the whispers I've heard over the past three or four years, there's a solid chance that Sidney Crosby finishes his career somewhere other than Pittsburgh," said Dangle. "Montreal is a team I've heard about, and joining Nathan MacKinnon with Colorado would be another option." - Via TVA Sports
Honestly, as much as we would like to see one of the best players in NHL history wear the Canadiens' jersey, this possibility seems far-fetched.
Despite the Penguins' recent struggles, it's believed that the captain would want to conclude his career with the team that drafted him in 2005. After all, Crosby has played over 1200 games with the Pens, setting numerous records with the team, including winning the Stanley Cup three times.
Why would he want to leave the team that enabled him to achieve all these feats?
Now 36 years old, Crosby is still posting impressive statistics with 33 points, including 18 goals, in 30 games this season. Over his career, he has recorded 1535 points, including 568 goals, in 1220 games with the Penguins.
His current contract of 8.7 million dollars ends after the 2024-2025 season. It wouldn't be surprising if he signs a two or three-year contract extension to remain with the Pennsylvania team.
