Jakob Markstrom has been traded
The news has just been confirmed and the Calgary Flames have finally traded their goaltender, Jacob Markstrom.
According to Travis Yost from TSN, Markstrom has been transferred to the New Jersey Devils, a team that had shown a strong interest in him. Frank Seravalli from DailyFaceOff has confirmed the information.
According to Darren Dreger, in exchange for Jakob Markstrom, the Flames receive 23-year-old defenseman Kevin Bahl and a first-round pick in 2025.
Earlier this year, at the trade deadline, the Devils were close to acquiring Markstrom.
The Flames had even asked the 34-year-old goaltender to waive his no-movement clause, which he had accepted. However, the negotiations fell through at the last minute.
This time, it seems that the deal has been finalized, although the complete details are not yet known. The transaction confirms the Devils' persistent interest in strengthening their goaltending position with an experienced player like Markstrom.
More details will follow.
