The Canadiens traded Sean Monahan to the Jets earlier this season in exchange for a first-round pick in the upcoming draft. We now know the position of that selection.

The Jets' first-round pick, which belongs to the Tricolore following the Monahan transaction, will be at the 26th position.
If the Canucks had reached the Western Conference Finals, the Habs would have had a second first-round pick at the 27th position.
In the end, with the compensatory pick received, Kent Hughes traded Sean Monahan for the 26th overall pick in the upcoming annual draft.
Therefore, the Tricolore will take the stage twice to unveil the identity of its two first-round picks, at the 5th and 26th positions, unless there's a trade, of course...
