Hockey Canada has unveiled the list of the first 22 players who will represent the country's men's national team at the 2024 IIHF World Championship in the Czech Republic.

Kaiden Guhle will be the only player from the Montreal Canadiens on the team, while Samuel Montembeault has opted not to participate.

Among the selected players is Boston University forward Macklin Celebrini, considered the top prospect for the upcoming NHL draft.

The roster, led by General Managers Rick Nash, Kyle Dubas, and Scott Salmond, includes 11 players who have previously represented Canada at the World Championship and 14 who have participated in the World Junior Championship.

Nash expressed confidence in the group and anticipated proud performances during the tournament.

Further additions to the team will be announced later. The tournament will commence on May 11 against Great Britain, and Canada will also face Denmark, Austria, Norway, Finland, Switzerland, and the Czech Republic in the preliminary round.

Two preparatory matches will take place before the start of the tournament, against Austria and Hungary.
