Although the Montreal Canadiens are officially out of the playoff race, the last game of the season is shaping up to be very exciting.

Indeed, after having witnessed Lane Hutson play his first NHL game, which notably gave him the chance to perform in front of his family and friends in Michigan, number 48 will have the opportunity to meet Montreal fans at the Bell Centre for the very first time in his young career.
Additionally, the organization has awarded a well-deserved honor to the 31st overall pick in the 2021 draft, Logan Mailloux. While celebrating his 21st birthday last night, the defenseman received a call from General Manager Kent Hughes, confirming that he will have the chance to play his very first game in the Tricolore uniform.
Thus, fans present at the Bell Centre will be able to see two of the organization's most promising prospects in action!
However, one case remained pending with the Montreal Canadiens, and according to information shared by Maxime Truman, a verdict has been officially reached.

Kirby Dach must wait before returning to play

Indeed, many fans were hopeful that the 23-year-old center, Kirby Dach, would be able to return to play to participate in a few games before the end of the regular season. In this regard, the player himself was very confident about beating the doctors' predictions at his most recent press conference, suggesting that we might potentially see him back in action in 2023-2024.
Moreover, number 77 had been skating for two months now, having participated in numerous training sessions alongside his teammates. Hope was therefore in the air, despite his doctor's strong advice against returning to play this year.
Unfortunately, to the great dismay of fans, a verdict was rendered earlier today, and it seems that we will indeed have to wait until the 2024-2025 season before seeing Kirby Dach don the Tricolore jersey again.

Although his return would have been a wonderful surprise for Martin St-Louis' team, it is probably a wise decision to let him fully recover before rejoining the Canadiens' lineup. After all, this last game is not of real importance for the CH, and Kirby Dach simply cannot afford to worsen his situation if he hopes to help the team fight for a playoff spot next year.
Selected third overall in the 2019 draft, the forward has accumulated 14 goals and 26 assists (40 points) in 60 games with the Tricolore.
