Kent Hughes Has Acquired the Next Member of the Canadiens Top-Six

One thing often heard about the Montreal Canadiens is the lack of depth on forward among their prospect pool with the talent to potentially play in the top-6 of the team one day.

Kent Hughes has a lot of work ahead to improve the situation of his lineup by adding elements that can bring a significant dose of offense to a team that, apart from the first line, sorely lacks talent.

With Kirby Dach as the second center, there's still work to be done to find him two good wingers to play with him starting next year.

If Alex Newhook could possibly accompany Dach, if the Canadiens fail to land a true top-6 player during the offseason, Martin St-Louis might not have to look far to complete his second line.

Indeed, according to Vincent Damphousse, the Canadiens may already have the candidate to fill this role.

Joshua Roy on Kirby Dach's left wing next year?

As Benoit Brunet and Damphousse highlight, Joshua Roy's talent is off the charts.

Both experts love what the young rookie can offer on the ice and believe he has the level of play to log significant minutes next season, depending on the outcome of training camp.

The offensive instinct and hockey IQ of the 20-year-old Quebecer make him a formidable player in the offensive zone, and according to them, it would be very interesting to see what he could offer with a center like Dach.

I totally agree with them that Roy could further exploit his potential by being used with talented teammates on an offensive line next year.

As he won't celebrate his 21st birthday until August, the Canadiens' fifth-round pick in 2021 has an impressive production of four goals and nine points in 21 games in his first professional season.

It's quite promising for his future.
