During the summer, the Canadiens will have to manage the contractual situations of several restricted free agents. This year, six members of the team will have this status, with four eligible for arbitration.

The club must now decide which players deserve a qualifying offer to remain with the team. Three players, in particular, stand out.
Jesse Ylonen, despite not having a significant impact with only 8 points in 59 games, remains a defensively reliable player. The Canadiens seem prepared to give him one last chance with a one-year, two-way contract and a minimal salary.
Arber Xhekaj, despite a tumultuous season with a shoulder injury, has proven his worth as a regular defenseman on the third pairing. He could secure a one-way contract with the team, thanks to his 10 points in 44 games and intimidating presence on the ice.
Justin Barron could be traded due to the surplus of young defensemen. If he stays, he will have the opportunity to carve out a place in the top 6 but will need to improve his offensive productivity.
Filip Cederqvist and Lias Andersson are also restricted free agents, but it is unlikely that the Canadiens will retain them, considering their limited potential for the NHL.
Finally, the collaboration between the Canadiens and Mattias Norlinder appears to be ending, as he could return to Sweden, being surpassed by several young defensemen in the organization.
