A major trade was announced on the eve of the NHL draft.

The Buffalo Sabres traded their 11th overall pick to the San Jose Sharks. In return, Buffalo received the 14th and 42nd overall picks in the 2024 draft.
"The Buffalo Sabres have acquired a 1st-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft (14th overall) and a 2nd-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft (42nd overall) from the San Jose Sharks, in exchange for a 1st-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft (11th overall)" - Buffalo Sabres

This trade, seemingly targeted by Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens, highlights the activity in the trade market.
The Sharks, very active, aim to strengthen their team in anticipation of adding Macklin Celebrini.
This move illustrates the cost required to move up in the first round of the draft.
The Montreal Canadiens, meanwhile, still hold the 5th and 26th overall picks.
