With the departure of veterans like Tanner Pearson and Colin White, the Montreal Canadiens could benefit from some additional experience on their third and fourth lines.

Among the remaining Quebec free agents, one name stands out: Samuel Blais, a native of Montmagny and a Stanley Cup champion with the St. Louis Blues.
Injured in the knee during the 2021-22 season, Blais' development has been slowed in recent years. After being drafted by St. Louis, traded to New York, and then returning to St. Louis, the Quebec native is now a free agent.
Since his NHL debut in 2017-18, the 176th pick of the 2014 draft has never played a full season. His best year in terms of games played was last season, with 53 games and 7 points.
Earning 1 million dollars last season, Blais is looking for a new opportunity. The Canadiens could be an interesting option, especially with the salary cap space they have.
Players with a physical presence like Blais, who is 6 feet 2 inches and 206 pounds, are needed, especially since the Canadiens have several fragile players in their lineup.
It appears that Blais has spoken with several teams, but the salary cap is a complication. When big names sign quickly on July 1, there is often little room left for support players.
Definitely worth keeping an eye on!
